Under the direction of the Service Response Center Supervisor, this position transports patients to diagnostic departments and from Admitting to patient units. Transports urology discharges. Assists nursing staff in transferring patients to and from transport vehicles. Administers nasal oxygen when required. Responsible for transporting lab specimens, medical records and flowers. Delivers oxygen tanks and Operating Room schedules to patient units.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required for candidates hired on or after 05/01/2004.
• One year related experience preferred.
• Must be able to read and speak English
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Successful completion of hospital orientation
• Successful completion of department orientation.

Responsibilities

• PATIENT TRANSPORT
• Ensure proper and safe patient transportation to all areas.
• SAFETY
• Enforces department safety policies and procedures to assure patients, staff and visitor safety.
• ADDITIONAL TASKS:
• Completes oxygen rounds as assigned following the oxygen rounds sheets.
