About The Position

We are actively looking for a Transportation Engineer to join our Savannah office. As part of the Transportation Group, the Transportation Engineer will provide engineering design support on a variety of projects – roadway, municipal, port, or rail design and develop plans for projects. The best candidate will be familiar with a variety of civil engineering projects related to transportation. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation related engineering; required
  • 0 to 2 years of experience designing transportation/roadway engineering projects; required
  • EIT licensure or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date; required
  • Software experience required:
  • Microstation/Geopak, OpenRoads Designer
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Bluebeam Revu and/or Adobe Acrobat
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation); required
  • Availability and willingness to travel
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
  • Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering design tasks for roadway, municipal, rail and port projects from preliminary to final design
  • Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages
  • Begin to foster relationships with regulatory agencies, local government, NCDOT and state clients, as well as private clients
  • Provide engineering design services for traditional design and design-build highway projects
  • Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans, including but not limited to implementation and knowledge of cross sections, traffic control, drainage, and signing and pavement markings plans
  • Assist in coordinating design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers
  • Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance
  • Identify schedule and cost variances and develop and implement recommendations for corrective actions
