Role description: Do you have an interest in traffic engineering/ planning, intelligent transportation systems, transportation modeling (micro, meso, and macro), and traffic operations? If so, this could be the perfect internship for you! Arcadis is looking for Traffic and Intelligent Transportation Interns to join our Mobility Group in Akorn, OH Office for Summer 2024. Working within our Design & Engineering teams, you'll create some of the world’s most iconic and ground-breaking structures and spaces that transform the world around us, from making journeys easier to opening public places that bring people together Role accountabilities: As a Technical Intern, you will assist our growing traffic and ITS group in conducting traffic studies, utilizing data to identify operational and safety needs, preparing plans, and CAV corridor planning. You will have the opportunity to work alongside project managers and senior engineers to gain a better understanding of the transportation industry and assist with developing and implementing improved signal timing plans. You will actively participate in conducting safety and operational analysis for intersections and corridors. Additionally, you will assist in developing traffic simulations models using platforms such as Synchro, VISSIM, and Sidra. Responsibilities could include a combination of field and office related tasks and will include providing program support functions for large engineering programs across the Southeast. These responsibilities may include: Research engineering standards, traffic operation, simulation, and safety as well as research and implementation of smart infrastructure and CAV technologies in programs and corridors. Perform CAD assignments, including the creation of engineering documents, figures, and incorporation of engineer’s markups. Work with other disciplines such as survey, roadway design, and environmental to increase engineering knowledge and facilitate successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in civil or transportation engineering

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience
  • Experience/ familiarity with CAD, Synchro, VISSIM &/or Sidra

  • The salary range for this position is $20.64 - $30.97 / hour. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
