Who are we looking for? GHD is seeking an experienced Transportation Planner to join our Mobility and Planning Group based out of any of our CA office. . This role is pivotal in shaping transportation networks that enhance mobility and contribute to the sustainable development of urban and rural areas. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise in transportation systems and strong written and verbal communication skills. They will be responsible for the execution of transportation planning tasks and projects, ensuring they meet safety, accessibility, equity, and sustainability goals. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level in Planning, Community Development, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 3 year's experience
  • Experience conducting community engagement activities
  • Bilingual skills to include written and or verbal communication
  • Proficiency in GIS application towards transportation planning field
  • Proficiency in transportation analysis or simulation software (Synchro/SimTraffic, Vissim, Vistro, HCS, Sidra)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional or academic experience with transportation policy, planning, analysis, or design
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency in developing, managing and analyzing large and complex databases

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in travel demand modeling software (TransCAD, Cube, Visum)

Responsibilities

  • Writing technical and public-facing memoranda, reports and plans, including occasionally reviewing or overseeing work completed by peers
  • Application of techniques, theories, and best practices in transportation planning
  • Collecting and analyzing transportation, safety, and other data, including performing field investigations or walk audits
  • Developing graphics, tables, charts, and exhibits to clearly communicate technical information to clients, stakeholders, and the general public
  • Planning and conducting community engagement and outreach activities, including in-person and virtual methods
  • Supporting business development activities, including contributing to competitive proposals
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
  • Content Creation: Write drafts and edit content in line with organizational style guidelines to format and publish information on websites and in print.
  • Document Preparation: Organize and prepare complex documents using a variety of applications for technology devices, such as standard office software. Also responsible for gathering and summarizing data for special reports.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Assist with stakeholder engagement by arranging actions, meetings, events, and supporting materials to promote stakeholder understanding and commitment.
  • Operational Compliance: Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Internal Communications: Help others get the most out of internal communications systems by offering support and advice.
  • External Communications: Help others get the most out of external communications systems by offering support and advice.
