The Transportation Services Agent provides exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers via phone and email. This role requires an in-depth understanding of company services and the ability to effectively communicate concerns within the department. The Agent will handle high volumes of emails and calls.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Customer service experience, preferably in the transportation industry.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Outlook, and Microsoft Word.
  • Strong understanding of freight operations and processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver outstanding customer service to both internal and external clients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, customer-focused attitude.
  • Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in customer interactions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume email environment.
  • Strong multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer inquiries via phone and email, providing information on domestic and international rate estimates, pickup scheduling, service times, shipment tracking, claim statuses, account balances, and invoice inquiries.
  • Provide rates for LTL, 4848, 698, 699, read and understand customer’s contracts and schedules and submit spreadsheets of these rates when requested
  • Handle bill corrections, re-consignments, blind shipment, and coordination of inspections
  • Email essential documents, including Bills of Lading, Proof of Delivery, claim forms, and freight bills.
  • Assist customers with freight classification (NMFC).
  • Maintain proficiency in all functions and programs related to the role.
  • Understand and accurately use freight industry terminology.
  • Document and report Overages, Shortages, and Damages (OS&D) and assist customers with claims processing as needed.
  • Respond to website inquiries, including site navigation assistance, account reactivations, username creation, account linking, and credential recovery.
  • Process new customer website registrations.
  • Handle credit card payment processing.
  • Uphold service standards to ensure an exceptional customer experience.
  • Provide timely feedback to the manager regarding service issues or customer concerns.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through prompt and professional communication.
  • Represent ODFL by delivering service that exceeds customer expectations.
  • Embody the "Service 2.OD" standard by consistently providing outstanding support and making a positive impact.
