About The Position

Mission critical transportation supervision role, providing peace of mind to students, caregivers, and colleagues, through safe, reliable, efficient student transport services. Part time, generally 25 hours per week with schedule focused on morning and afternoon hours. $36/hour. JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Program Director, maintain day-to-day student transportation operations to ensure safe, compliant, timely, and reliable services for Stars’ early childhood education, afterschool, and summer camp programs. Coordinate and schedule transportation, including routes. Maintain fleet. Communicate effectively with Center Directors, Stars van drivers, Camp Directors, and contracted transportation companies.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass CORI and DEEC Suitability screens and medical fitness documentation requirements
  • At least three years of related experience. Preference for five years.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite
  • Possession of a MA 7D license with a clean driving record
  • Demonstrably sound judgement exercised collaboratively
  • Clarity of written and verbal English
  • Ability to keep work organized and accurate and to meet deadlines
  • Confident and persuasive presentation skills
  • Record of increasing professional responsibility and autonomy
  • Interest in high quality customer service and in championing the organization
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to see, hear, process sensory information in a sometimes loud environment, bend, twist, push, pull, sit, stand in the course of the job’s activities
  • Ability to operate safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and vehicles’ emergency exits
  • Ability to operate van school buses among Stars locations, students’ homes, and third-party locations

Responsibilities

  • Hire drivers and provide supervision that encourages and supports safe and pleasant services
  • Help administer contracts and approve monthly invoices
  • Schedule, route, and dispatching services
  • Work with Center Directors and school personnel to facilitate transportation services for children as needed.
  • Work with drivers to monitor inspections, vehicle upkeep, routes, and routine maintenance of vehicles. Perform inspections to monitor vehicle upkeep and routes
  • Supervise, schedule, and evaluate all drivers
  • Coordinate and/offer training and requirements for drivers and associated staff
  • Collaborate with school districts, other agencies, directors, and public safety personnel to ensure that services are delivered safely, efficiently, and effectively; to monitor all transportation activities; and to resolve issues and concerns to the satisfaction of school and agency programs
  • Maintain a hands -on, involved presence in day-to-day transportation operations.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of schedules, routes, stops, student assignments, accident reports, school bus records, bus driver licenses, and project requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with all Department of Early Education and Care, associated agency or partner agencies’ regulations and requirements.
  • Strive for continual quality improvement of transportation services.
  • Act as backup 7D driver
  • Other duties reasonably associated with the position as assigned
