In collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director(s), Trauma Program Manager, PI Coordinator(s), and Trauma Clinical Nurse Coordinator the Trauma Outreach and Injury Prevention Coordinator will perform as an expert clinician to promote quality trauma care and outreach through the coordination and continual development of the outreach and injury prevention components of the Level 1 Jon Michael Moore Trauma Center (JMMTC). This position is responsible for identifying, establishing, and maintaining relationships with affiliated hospital's staff, Emergency Medical Service (EMS) agencies, and communities throughout the WVU Medicine referral area. This individual will participate in trauma case review to evaluate pre-hospital care given and review compliance in conjunction with OEMS protocols and the trauma practice guidelines. The Trauma Outreach and Injury Prevention Coordinator will develop and implement educational, outreach and injury prevention offerings on all trauma projects involving the adult and geriatric population and will collaborate with the Pediatric Injury Prevention and Outreach Coordinator on pediatric and adolescent injury prevention, outreach and educational programs. This individual will have responsibility related to promotion of trauma standards of care according to nationally accepted American College of Surgeons (ACS) guidelines and to maintain compliance with the requirements for trauma verification at all levels such as the West Virginia States Designation as well as the ACS, and compliance with the WVOEMS office as well with focus on trauma outreach and injury prevention.
