Ripple Glass has an opening for a full-time Commercial Route Driver. This position will conduct regular pick-ups of glass from local businesses such as bars and restaurants with a Large Pickup Truck and Gooseneck Trailer. Local routes will have you home every day, with steady work throughout the year. We are looking for a safe, reliable individual with a clean driving record, who maintains a feeling of pride in work and strives to achieve all goals. This is a full-time position which reports to our Logistics Manager. Some overtime or weekend work may be required. The Commercial Driver performs a dedicated pick-up route of glass from businesses. Driver uses trailer mechanisms to safely load and unload glass and communicates with Ripple Glass personnel to coordinate efficient routing and scheduling. This position will also deliver recycling receptacles to new and existing customers and occasionally perform the delivery and pick-up of recycling containers provided for events. Driver must identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers in accordance with applicable departmental procedures and continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste and clean area around an accidental waste spill, ensuring adherence to all applicable safety standards and policies. Work is performed outside with exposure to weather extremes. Work involves some exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts and broken glass which require following basic safety precautions. Drivers must be able to exert physical effort which involves pushing, pulling, bending, twisting and lifting up to 50 pounds. We conduct background checks and health screenings.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old with a valid Class A CDL license and one year of driving experience (or equivalent military driving experience) within the last year.
  • Driver must have knowledge of truck components and safety equipment and comply with all federal, state, and local traffic laws or regulations regarding commercial vehicle operation.
  • Good customer services skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; acts in a professional, courteous and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.
  • Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Good follow through ability; adheres to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise.
  • Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules set forth; promotes the Company’s safety standards; does not take inappropriate risks.

Nice To Haves

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drivers may be expected to fill in for other drivers as needed: could include Rolloff truck or Tractor Trailer once properly trained on each piece of equipment.
