About The Position

Clay County is now accepting applications to be considered for a Variable Hour (Part-Time) Truck Driver with the Solid Waste Department. Date Posted : 2/2/2026 Application Deadline : Open until filled Minimum Starting Salary : $24.43 - $27.87 per hour – Full Salary Range: $24.43-$33.86 per hour Class A License, the starting rate of pay is $27.87 per hour Shifts: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Status: Non-exempt Location: Clay County Landfill - 3301 190th St S. Hawley

Requirements

• One-year Certification from a college or tech school in Heavy Equipment Operation or related field.
• 1-3 years of prior work-related experience
• Class A Driver’s License
• Successful completion of a background check
• Clay County Application must be submitted for all County positions.
• If you are an eligible military veteran and wish to claim Veteran’s Preference, you must present a legible photocopy of your DD214 form to the Office of Human Resources.
• All veterans who are certified will be considered for appointment.

Responsibilities

• Driving Truck
• Operation of heavy equipment including tractor/trailer semi-trucks, skid steers, front-end loaders and tractors to transport solid waste and leachate.
• Responsible for day-to-day inspection and routine repair of equipment. This includes oil changes, filter replacement, lubrication, change flat tires and replace lights.
• Maintain roads, spraying weeds, placing riprap, cutting brush and trees and placing waste in proper disposal area.
• Assist the landfill manager in office functions and fill in for landfill operators when they are on vacation.
• Other duties as assigned.
