About The Position

Scott Petroleum, a leader in the petroleum industry, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Truck Shop Manager to join our team in Louisiana. The ideal candidate will have experience in budgeting, safety, supervision, fleet management, order tracking, and mechanical aptitude. The Truck Shop Manager will play a vital role in scheduling, maintaining, and servicing equipment while ensuring the highest safety and efficiency standards. The Truck Shop Manager is not only responsible for all assigned team members but also participates and performs mechanical duties in the fleet department and/or in the field as necessary. They are responsible for completing special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training is a plus.
  • Proven experience with computer systems for parts, scheduling, and billing.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must complete a background check, drug test, and have a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment (up to 50Lbs).
  • Travel when necessary for job related duties. (25%)

Responsibilities

  • Shop Operations Management: Direct and schedule all maintenance, repair work for company trucks, trailers, tanks, and related equipment in Louisiana.
  • Supervision & Leadership: Manage shop mechanics. Provide leadership, training, and performance feedback to maintain efficiency and quality of work.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Coordinate with branch and fleet management to ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed and downtime is minimized.
  • Work Orders & Documentation: Create and close work orders in RTA. Track parts usage, labor hours, and costs for accurate internal billing.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce company safety standards and ensure all work meets DOT regulations. Maintain accurate inspection and repair records.
  • Inventory & Parts Control: Manage shop inventory, order parts, and maintain supplier relationships to keep essential materials in stock without over-purchasing.
  • Communication: Serve as the main point of contact between the shop, Fleet Manager, and branch managers in Louisiana to coordinate repairs, prioritize urgent work, and communicate equipment status.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect finished repairs and installations to ensure work meets company and regulatory standards before equipment returns to service.
  • Budget & Cost Awareness: Monitor labor and parts costs, identify areas for savings, and assist management with equipment and tool budgeting.
  • Irrigation Engine Coordination: Oversee parts ordering, service scheduling, and mechanic dispatch for repair and inspection of irrigation engines across Louisiana.
