About The Position

American Builders Supply is looking for 1st Shift Truss Assembler Associate for a growing team at a manufacturing and distribution company in Gibsonton, Florida. American Builders Supply is Florida’s largest independent supplier of lumber, truss, doors and windows. We provide building materials and installation services for the residential building market statewide with locations in Jacksonville, Sanford, Melbourne, Winter Haven, Tampa and Fort Myers. Work Purpose Assist the Table Leader in assembling roof and floor trusses by performing one or more repetitive tasks on an assembly line, following work order specifications. This role involves material placement, fastening, part adjustment, and using hand tools as needed.

Work in a manufacturing environment with high temperatures, noise, and dust.
Exposure to machinery, moving parts, and associated safety risks.
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, from extreme heat to cold.
Exposure to wood dust, debris, and flying particles.
Must wear required protective gear (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, etc.).
Willingness to work overtime or different shifts based on production needs.
Standing for extended periods.
Lifting up to 50 lbs and occasionally pushing or elevating up to 110 lbs.
Frequent bending and reaching at ground level.
Lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 lb repeatedly during the shift
Stand and walk on concrete floors for extended periods
Frequent kneeling, bending, squatting, reaching, and working at table level
Continuous use of hand and pneumatic tools such as hammers and staple guns
Work in hot, noisy, and dusty environments and outdoors when required
Wear required PPE at all times
Read a tape measure and basic measurements accurately
Reliable transportation and consistent attendance

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in construction, framing/carpentry, roofing, warehouse, or manufacturing assembly is preferred.

Responsibilities

Follow instructions from the Table Leader to assist in the truss assembly process.
Work primarily on the assembly table, operating a staple gun to secure wooden pieces and facilitate assembly (applies to some assembly lines).
Select and position connector plates at the specified assembly points according to the work order.
Use the automatic press (pressure roll) to secure connector plates.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Assist in checking materials and completed trusses for defects or misalignment before moving to the next stage.
Ensure tools (staple guns, presses, etc.) are in good working condition and report any issues to the supervisor.
Follow all company safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and awareness of emergency procedures.
Assist in moving and organizing wood, connector plates, and other materials needed for assembly.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by Management.
