About The Position

Prestage Farms is looking for a Turkey Service Representative who will inspect farms for compliance with contract and cooperative agreement standards and advise grower’s regarding development programs to aid in producing quality poultry products by performing the following duties. The employee will be required to follow all company policies and safety rules

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of our organization
  • The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • B.S. in Poultry Science, Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to perform constant walking, bending, and lifting weight in excess of 125 lbs
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell
  • Occasionally lift and /or move more than 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Responsibilities

  • Tour farms to inspect facilities and equipment for adequacy, sanitation and efficiency of operations
  • Examine turkeys for evidence of disease and growth rate (according to weight and age) to determine effectiveness of medication and feeding programs
  • Recommend changes in facilities, equipment, and medication to improve production
  • Inform growers of new procedures and techniques, government regulations and company and association production standards to enable them to upgrade farms and meet requirements
  • Recommend laboratory testing of diseased turkeys, feeds, and supplements or gathers samples and takes them to the plant laboratory for analysis
  • Report findings of farm conditions, laboratory tests, recommendations and grower’s reaction to keep superior apprised of grower’s efforts to furnish quality products
