About The Position

ReCon is seeking a Turnaround Instrument and Electrical Planner for a client in Orange, TX. This role will be approximately 15-20 months in duration. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of planning and scheduling for plant shutdowns and turnarounds. Experience in SAP is essential for managing work orders and material requirements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Instrumentation and Electrical Planner or in a similar role, specifically in turnarounds or plant maintenance.
  • Proficiency in SAP for managing work orders, planning, and material procurement.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and maintenance processes.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across teams and with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze problems and implement effective solutions quickly.
  • Familiarity with turnaround safety and compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with Mechanical activities and be able to plan or work with Mechanical planner to complete the job plan.
  • Advanced MS Excel training and knowledge.
  • Understanding of schedule controls methodology.
  • Extensive knowledge of resource monitoring techniques such as CPM networks, plus understanding of construction technology, process systems and structures.
  • Able to develop schedule from documentation.
  • Strong written, verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Problem recognition and problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding.
  • Ability to walk on even and uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to wear PPE including fire retardant clothing, hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, respirator.
  • Ability to enter confined spaces.
  • Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
  • Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
  • Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
  • Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
  • Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk and hear.
  • Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), with additional specialized training or college course work and at least six (6) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Nice To Haves

  • SAP PM (Plant Maintenance) Experience.
  • Experience in a similar industry (e.g., oil & gas, manufacturing, utilities).
  • Previous experience in planning large-scale turnaround events.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed Instrumentation and Electrical turnaround work plans and timelines.
  • Work closely with the I/E maintenance, operations, and procurement teams to ensure all tasks are planned effectively and efficiently.
  • Utilize SAP to manage work orders, materials, and ensure seamless integration of planning and execution activities.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of I/E equipment data, ensuring that spare parts and tools are identified and available prior to work execution.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure the safe execution of turnaround activities, managing constraints such as resources, safety, and timelines.
  • Perform risk assessments and ensure all turnaround activities comply with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of the overall turnaround budget and help control costs.
  • Gather and input data into scheduling software programs.
  • Maintain schedule and update, as needed.
  • Gather and analyze information to prepare reports.
  • Report to a Manager.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
