About The Position

The Mech II position is primarily responsible for operating the shear and brake machines in the Sheet Metal Department. This includes the correct and efficient handling of start-up, production, and shut down processes.

Requirements

  • Ability to interpret work orders, blueprints, and measuring devices.
  • Understanding of the scrap/cut plan process to minimize scrap losses.
  • Good product knowledge and understanding of the fabrication process.
  • Working command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to read and understand BAC fabrication drawings.
  • Understanding and use of simple math including decimals.
  • Ability to use measurement equipment such as micrometers, tape measures, dial calipers, squares, protractors, and micrometers.
  • PC knowledge including the use of fabrication databases.
  • Ability to work well with others and respond to customers with urgency.
  • Possess a can-do attitude and demonstrate high motivation.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change.
  • Quality orientation and high attention to detail.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of Lean and Continuous Improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functions as a Press Brake Operator, including preventive maintenance and programming/running simple parts.
  • Proficiently operate the shear and perform shear preventive maintenance.
  • Assist in changing dies and CNC tooling.
  • Perform functions related to the drop-off rack associated with scrap.
  • Help maintain equipment in good operating condition.
  • Keep the work area and equipment clean and orderly, following prescribed safety regulations.
  • Help achieve departmental safety goals.
  • Consistently meet quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
