About the position

We are seeking a passionate and innovative UI/UX Designer to join our team during the critical creative discovery phase of new projects. In this role, you will be instrumental in understanding user needs, exploring diverse concepts, and translating initial ideas into tangible design solutions. You will work collaboratively with product managers, researchers, and other stakeholders to shape the foundational user experience and visual direction of our future products or features. This is an exciting opportunity for a designer who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys hands-on exploration, and is driven by the desire to uncover truly impactful user solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in user research activities (e.g., interviews, surveys, usability testing) to gather insights and deeply understand user behaviors, needs, and pain points.
  • Develop user personas, journey maps, and empathy maps to communicate user understanding across the team.
  • Translate research findings into actionable design opportunities and recommendations.
  • Facilitate and participate in brainstorming sessions, workshops, and co-creation activities with cross-functional teams to generate diverse design concepts.
  • Sketch, wireframe, and prototype various ideas quickly to explore different user flows, interactions, and visual layouts.
  • Champion user-centered design principles throughout the ideation process.
  • Define the structure and organization of content, ensuring intuitive navigation and clear information hierarchy.
  • Design intuitive and engaging user flows and interactions that address user needs and business goals.
  • Create low-fidelity wireframes and user flows to illustrate design concepts and test early hypotheses.
  • Explore various visual styles and aesthetic directions, developing mood boards and style tiles to inform the visual identity.
  • Develop initial UI concepts and visual designs that align with branding guidelines (if applicable) and user experience goals.
  • Create interactive prototypes (low to mid-fidelity) to test concepts, gather feedback, and iterate quickly.
  • Present design concepts and rationale clearly and persuasively to stakeholders, incorporating feedback effectively.
  • Work closely with product managers to define project scope and requirements based on user insights.
  • Collaborate with researchers to validate design hypotheses and gather user feedback on early concepts.
  • Actively participate in design critiques, providing and receiving constructive feedback.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer, with a portfolio showcasing projects where you were involved in the early discovery and ideation phases.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Miro).
  • Experience conducting or participating in user research and translating findings into design.
  • Ability to rapidly sketch, wireframe, and create low to mid-fidelity prototypes to explore ideas.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong passion for understanding user needs and a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, iterative environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience facilitating design workshops and brainstorming sessions.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of front-end development capabilities and limitations.
  • Experience with a variety of research methods beyond basic usability testing.
  • A degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
