In this role, the Sonographer (Ultrasound), under the general supervision of an attending radiologist, and in accordance with department protocols, will utilize high frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques to produce and evaluate ultrasound images and related data, which is used by physicians in rendering a medical diagnosis resulting in quality patient care. Will supports general ultrasound services.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and demonstrates competence in ultrasonic scanning procedures by producing, assessing and evaluating ultrasound images and related data that are used by physicians to render a medical diagnosis.
  • Recognizing, identifying and appropriately documenting normal anatomy, abnormalities, disease, pathology and pathophysiology for accurate medical diagnosis.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree.
  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program (CAAHEP).
  • Specific Degree(s): AAS in a Sonographer program.
  • 1-2 years of previous job-related experience in Medical Imaging.
  • New Graduates have 90 days to obtain ARDMS Certification.
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) from American Heart Association only.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).
  • Registration within 90 days of hire in a minimum of one to two specialties of either Abdomen and/or Obstetrics & Gynecology required.
  • New Graduates: Obtain certification within three months of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Registration in both Abdomen and Obstetrics & Gynecology preferred.
