About The Position

The Ultrasound technologist performs diagnostic medical sonographic procedures and studies with a thorough understanding of standard ultrasound examinations. The technologist must be able to assist the physician, interpret orders and explain procedures to RN’s, patients, and families. They must have a thorough understanding of the Radiology Department operations to assist non-technical staff in processing paperwork, digital imaging and expediting patient transportation.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High School or equivalent, graduate from accredited diagnostic ultrasound program
  • Minimum Experience: 0-6 months
  • Required License: ARRT or ARDMS certification
  • Required Certification: CPR

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
  • Performs the duties of an Ultrasound Technologist.
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
  • Prepares room and equipment for patients.
  • Processes images and sends them to PACS for interpretation.
  • Restocks rooms with essential supplies.
  • Pick up clean linen, deliver soiled linen to drop off.
  • Does QA/QC for X-Ray as necessary.
  • Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail).
  • Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop-down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations are required upon employment or within the first two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
