About The Position

Undergraduate Biomedical Engineering Intern – Summer Internship Location: NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital – New York, NY Program Duration: Summer 2026 Schedule: Full-Time, Onsite/ Weil Cornell and Columbia Sites/ 2 Roles NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Undergraduate Biomedical Engineering Intern to join our Biomedical Engineering team for the summer. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting clinical engineering operations within one of the nation’s top academic medical centers. As a Biomedical Engineering Intern, you will work alongside experienced Clinical/Biomedical Engineers and Technicians to support medical device evaluation, maintenance, technology integration, and data-driven improvement initiatives across the hospital. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Completion of at least sophomore year by Summer 2026 preferred.
  • Strong interest in clinical engineering and medical technology.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with inventory, inspection, and preventive maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Support engineers in device testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with the team on equipment performance assessments and safety checks.
  • Help update and maintain equipment databases and asset records.
  • Participate in special projects related to equipment lifecycle management, technology upgrades, or process improvement.
  • Shadow Biomedical Engineering staff to gain an understanding of clinical workflows and medical technology use in a hospital environment.
