Requirements

  • Able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Work safely outside in various weather conditions
  • Valid Driver's License
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year utility experience (preferably in the construction industry)
  • Able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 150 days of employment (Company paid training)
  • Able to travel long distances on short notice, when required (storm or emergency work)
  • Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required
  • Willing to work over-time when requested in support of storm or emergency work

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety rules and regulations to promote a positive safety culture
  • Follow safety rules and practices
  • Passes tools to line crew members by acting as a general helper on the ground.
  • Handles cables, conduit and other materials as directed.
  • Assists in setting transformers.
  • Assists line crew with setting poles by shoveling or piking; fills anchor holes
  • Clears undergrowth from right-of-way by using hand tools or saws in a safe manner
  • Hand Digging, ditches/holes using hand tools
  • Clean equipment, trucks, hand tools
  • Keep work area clear and clean of debris
  • Move debris & dirt, from one place to another using a shovel, rake, or other tools to remove excess material, and fill in holes
  • Learn to operate power-driven machinery such as: jackhammer, tamper, & drills
  • Site clean-up
