About The Position

The Underwriting Analyst will assist with claims analysis and prepare information and reports for client meetings. This role will also assist in the marketing of self and alternative funding medical plans. This position is part of a centralized team that provides specific and tailored underwriting and financial services for certain segments of employee benefits clients of North Risk Partners.

Requirements

  • A combination of education and experience generally attained through a high school degree, bachelor’s degree (in business, math, or related field strongly preferred), and a minimum of 2 years customer service experience
  • Willingness and ability to obtain a life & health insurance license
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills, demonstrating ability to prioritize tasks effectively

  • Apply manual dexterity, visual acuity and ability, for computer keyboarding, office equipment uses, review of detailed reports, information, fine print, and warning labels
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and be able to travel to different North Risk Partners locations for meetings, as well as various locations throughout the state and potentially the region for client meetings
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule, including overtime and potential evenings/weekends for events and meetings as needed
  • Incumbents must be able to use telephones, calculators, copy machines, computers, printers, and other office equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Previous group health insurance experience is preferred
  • Previous insurance underwriting and/or insurance carrier customer service experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and distribute claim reports for company’s self- and alternative-funded clients
  • Order, organize, and prepare claim analysis reports for midyear and renewal client meetings
  • Assist with fully insured and some self or alternative-funded renewal marketing for existing clients
  • Help with benchmark reporting and additional claim analysis reporting as requested by clients
  • Maintain and grow knowledge of health insurance carrier products and value-added services
  • Keep up to date on ongoing federal and state regulations
  • Update clients and account managers of regulation or policy changes
