The unit assistant (UA) provides administrative support to a designated nursing unit. The UA assists the Nurse Manager (NM) with data collection that supports achievement of unit outcomes related to quality, service, growth, staff, and finances. The UA supports the NM in overseeing processes that impact staff development and practice, patient satisfaction, and unit workflow including: time and attendance records, schedules, inventory, filing, assisting in new employee processing, and project development. The UA is responsible for enhancing the unit environment while maintaining regulatory requirements and identifying and resolving unit issues as assigned. The UA assists the unit management team in implementing and overseeing support tech initiatives and is competent in the monitor/support tech role. The unit assistant provides administrative and clinical support to achieve the organization's mission of excellent patient care and nursing's vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration.
