About The Position

Charlotte Country Day School seeks an Upper School History Teacher to collaboratively design curriculum, teach History, and create a dynamic learning environment for students. We are interested in candidates who have experience with multi-level and differentiated instruction, work well in a team environment to design and implement curriculum, understand the importance of research-based projects, support students both inside and outside of the classroom while being energized by working in an upper school community, and demonstrate a commitment to student-centered learning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or post-graduate work in History, Education, or a related subject area.
• Significant experience teaching History, preferably to high-school students.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of instructional technology and its integration into curriculum design and classroom practice.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced Placement / International Baccalaureate (AP/IB) experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Teaching a course load of four sections of History (various levels) in the Upper School.
• Collaborating with teachers and colleagues in the development, evaluation, and revision of Upper School curriculum, materials, and programs.
• Attending professional meetings, educational conferences, and faculty training workshops to maintain and improve professional practice.
• Serving as an advisor to a cohort of Upper School students.
• Being a leader in the school’s co-curricular program in meaningful ways outside of the classroom through coaching, club advising, etc.
• Other duties as assigned, including attending regular faculty meetings, professional learning days, and additional student-related supervision responsibilities.
