About The Position

Holy Innocents Episcopal School (HIES) is seeking an Upper School Visual Art Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year. HIES is the largest Episcopal Parish independent day school in the country, serving 1,400 students and offers a fully accredited college preparatory program for students age three through 12 th grade. HIES is located north of downtown Atlanta between I-75 and GA 400. Typical Duties Plan and implement a program of instruction that adheres to the mission of Holy Innocents Episcopal School and the Visual Art departments curriculum objectives. Visual Arts classes include but will not be limited to Foundations of Art, Drawing and Painting, Advanced Drawing and Painting, AP 2D Design, and AP Drawing A strong background in drawing and painting, and experience with a wide variety of media and technology including printmaking, fashion design, and Ipads/pro-create is desired. Ability to operate a sewing machine, laser cutter, and any associated technology. Other duties as assigned by Upper School.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Studio Art, Studio Art Education or related field required.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background screening, drug testing and safety training required.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree preferred.
  • Experience working in a high school art classroom and familiarity with the AP curriculum preferred.
  • A strong background in drawing and painting, and experience with a wide variety of media and technology including printmaking, fashion design, and Ipads/pro-create is desired.
  • Ability to operate a sewing machine, laser cutter, and any associated technology.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a program of instruction that adheres to the mission of Holy Innocents Episcopal School and the Visual Art departments curriculum objectives.
  • Visual Arts classes include but will not be limited to Foundations of Art, Drawing and Painting, Advanced Drawing and Painting, AP 2D Design, and AP Drawing
  • Active collaboration with other members of the Visual Arts faculty (PK3-12) along with other members of the Upper School faculty to create cross-curriculum and cross-division experiences for students.
  • Planning and coordinating display of student artwork.
  • Other duties as assigned by Upper School.
