About The Position

MHA promotes mental health and total wellness for individuals facing challenges associated with mental illness and addiction recovery. We increase community awareness while enhancing mental well-being through advocacy, education, prevention, treatment, and services. MHA is seeking an Urgent Care Therapist to join our Wellness HubTeam! Be a part of the team that makes a difference in the lives of our consumers. This position provides only Psychiatric Urgent Care. Shift Time Available: Tuesday- Saturday

Requirements

  • LCSW/LPC or comparable license plus two years of experience. LAC/LSW may be considered with relevant experience.
  • Ability to assess behavioral health needs and identify early warning signs of behavioral and physical health crises, using MHA’s bio-psycho-social assessment.
  • Ability to provide specialized Substance Use Treatment, Family Therapy and Group Therapy.
  • Ability to engage effectively with individuals, to educate individuals regarding mental illness and other functional impairments, to discuss substance abuse/dependence issues as well as educate individuals on these issues.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly through writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

  • Uses culture competent, recovery-oriented and trauma informed services while using Motivational Interviewing and other evidenced-based practices to provide the following services:
  • Provide MI and other evidence-based services to support engagement and recovery and ensures that all services reflect SAMHSA's 10 Principles of Recovery and Eight Principles of Wellness and Recovery.
  • Uses MI to provide crisis intervention/crisis stabilization including crisis planning when indicated to help persons in need.
  • Use MI evidence-based, skill-building services, including CBT/DBT; Illness Management & Recovery (IMR); Mindfulness/Relaxation exercises; WRAP support; and Harm-reduction to reduce emotional reactivity, reduce substance use, improve cognitive functioning, and improve health.
  • Provide evidence-based services, including MI, CBT/DBT; IMR; Mindfulness/Relaxation exercises; WRAP support; and Harm-reduction to reduce emotional reactivity, reduce substance use, improve cognitive functioning, and health.
  • Provide integration of physical and mental health by addressing both in treatment.
  • Provide on-call services to provide in-person crisis intervention/crisis stabilization, and telephonic support, and help individuals in need to access emergency meds, emergency respite, and emergency food.
  • Provide services on weekends and holidays on a rotating basis to ensure 24-hour/7-day access to services.
  • Provide specialized Substance Use Treatment, Family Therapy and Group Therapy.
  • Complete all required documentation showing consistent and effective provision of MI and other evidence-based services.
  • Attend and participates actively in staff meetings
  • Attend meetings with program partners/community providers for service coordination.
  • Complete additional tasks, as assigned by Program Director.
