We are looking for a passionate and innovative software engineer to join Traffic Foundation within Walmart's Global Technology Platform group. Traffic Foundation is empowering application teams at Walmart to reach their customers in the fastest, most efficient way possible. We build and design systems handling millions of requests per second, play a critical role in scaling Walmart systems under the extremely high-traffic situations, and provide tools to accelerate, secure, and distribute traffic to all the right places. Our GraphQL team is at the heart of our cutting-edge projects, composed of passionate developers, architects, and tech enthusiasts who thrive on collaboration, problem-solving, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible with GraphQL and Rust. This role will involve designing and building high-performance, distributed systems at massive scale, working with teams across E-Commerce, Stores, and everything in between to make Walmart technology the fastest and most resilient in the industry.

  • Design and build high-performance, distributed systems at massive scale.
  • Lead and participate in medium to large scale, complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Dissect complex problem domains and deliver excellently engineered solutions.
  • Collaborate with teams across E-Commerce, Stores, and other departments.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Extensive experience in Java, Spring Boot, SQL, Javascript, and familiarity with Node.js or Rust.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of system design and architecture.
  • Excellent coding skills with a focus on quality, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Excellent issue triaging and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven experience in a high-paced team environment, preferably working on Tier 0 products.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
  • Demonstrated ownership mentality with the ability to take responsibility for projects from inception to completion.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git and with K8s and Docker or similar containerization and orchestration platforms.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and experience with cloud computing platforms like Google Cloud or Azure.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to understand best practices regarding system security measures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven track record of learning new technologies and skills on the job.
  • Willingness to keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and apply them to current projects.
  • GraphQL experience.
  • Experience in creating inclusive digital experiences and knowledge of accessibility best practices.
