About The Position

Set the bar for UX design excellence by transforming complex problems into intuitive, elegant experiences at scale. RUN Studios, and its client partner, a large online retailer headquartered in Seattle, are seeking a User Experience Designer V to join for an approximate 12-month project! This position requires 5 days onsite in Seattle. As a Principal UX Designer focused on visual experience at scale, you will lead the design of complex, high-impact products used by millions of customers globally. This role requires a multidisciplinary designer and strategic leader who can own end-to-end experiences, influence product direction at the executive level, and help teams think holistically about customer experience. You will translate ambiguous and complex business problems into intuitive, elegant design solutions while setting a high bar for craft, systems thinking, and design excellence. Success in this role requires exceptional visual and interaction design skills, strong leadership and communication abilities, comfort using data to inform decisions, and a passion for simplifying complexity. A strong interest in music, media, or culture-driven products is a plus.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of professional design experience delivering end-to-end digital experiences.
  • 8 or more years of UX design experience on consumer-facing products across multiple platforms and devices.
  • An online portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, visual excellence, and ownership of complex design problems from concept to launch.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven ability to clearly articulate design rationale and influence executive stakeholders through strong storytelling and presentation skills.
  • Experience leading large, complex projects that involve multidisciplinary teams and ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring senior designers and contributing to the growth of design organizations.
  • Experience defining and maintaining design patterns, UX standards, and scalable design systems.
  • Ability to integrate qualitative and quantitative data into design decisions and iterative workflows.

Nice To Haves

  • A strong interest in music, media, or culture-driven products is a plus.
  • Experience designing for AI-enabled features, voice, or multimodal experiences is a plus.
  • Comfort leveraging AI tools as part of the product design and exploration process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and define the design vision for complex, cross-platform experiences that operate at global scale.
  • Create and own process flows, conceptual frameworks, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs that communicate both strategic intent and detailed interaction behavior.
  • Partner closely with product, engineering, research, and business stakeholders to define requirements, user scenarios, and use cases from early discovery through delivery.
  • Facilitate design working sessions and executive reviews to align on product vision, experience strategy, and design direction.
  • Champion human-centered design principles and advocate for customer needs across teams and leadership.
  • Drive usability testing efforts and synthesize insights into refined design solutions and detailed handoff documentation for engineering partners.
  • Define, evolve, and promote adoption of design systems, guidelines, patterns, and best practices to ensure consistency and scalability.
  • Mentor and elevate senior design talent while setting the standard for quality, rigor, and collaboration across the design organization.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships that improve efficiency, alignment, and long-term product outcomes.
