The Utilities Electrician Assistant, under supervision, installs, maintains, and services electrical systems associated with the TAMU Utility Plants. Completes academic or related trade training, which will qualify incumbent to progress to a Utilities Electrician position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Receives training and assists in the installation and repairs of electrical cables, street and parking lot lights, well pump motors, and control circuits. Tests cables with various test equipment. Receives training and assists in the installation, repair, and calibration of meters and relays of low to medium-voltage switchgear and station battery systems. Receives training and assists in maintaining industrial equipment such as electrical systems related to generators, boilers, chillers, variable frequency drives, electronic exciters, and voltage regulators. Receives training and assists in the installation and repairs to control cables from the utility plant to the various satellite utility plants and substations. Participates in skill development in the utilities electrical trade. Cleans and maintains equipment and work areas. Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment, and keep parts and supplies in order. Work may require the use of ladders, elevated platforms, and lifts to perform assigned tasks safely and effectively This document represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions.
