Requirements

  • Certificate from a vocational institution and completion of apprenticeship in plumbing and electrical repair. H.V.A.C. training preferred. Pool and spa experience preferred.
  • Two years’ experience in the maintenance field and three years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, and painting trades, or an equivalent level of education and experience.
  • Current Driver’s License required.
  • Flexible schedule required, including nights and weekends. Must respond to emergencies as necessary.
  • Strong leadership, management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver results.
  • Ability to work well with, and motivate, a variety of personality types while maintaining tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, etc.
  • Heavy work: Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the hotel by performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities using hand tools.
  • Notify management concerning the need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
  • Tend furnace, air conditioner, and boiler to provide heat, cool air, and hot water for guests; replace AC filters.
  • Respond to guest requests for service according to company policy.
  • Remain accessible to Front Office and Chief Engineer.
  • Maintain a clean and safe pool area.
  • Maintain equipment using standard preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain all equipment maintenance and repair records.
  • Maintain files of Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Program phone equipment according to hotel needs.
  • Observe equipment and utility meter readings on a daily basis.
  • Program H.V.A.C. controller according to hotel schedule.
  • Maintain quality of appearance for the interior and exterior of the hotel.
  • Paint and stain walls, trim, and doors.
  • Repair wallpaper, carpet, Formica, sheetrock, and doors.
  • Keep an orderly and well-stocked inventory of finishing supplies needed in the hotel.
  • Ensure superior quality in guest rooms; check operation of all guest room equipment.
  • Correct minor problems and report major problems to Chief Engineer.
  • Keep records of rooms completed.
  • Ensure par stocking of regularly used parts and supplies.
  • Inspect and repair minor problems in common areas.
  • Learn emergency procedures, safety protocols, operation of all equipment, chemicals, and lockout/tag-out procedures.
  • Report to work for scheduled shifts on time and in uniform in accordance with company policy.
  • Know and comply with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position.
  • Take the initiative to greet guests in a friendly and warm manner.
