Job Summary This position is assigned to operate equipment within established guidelines for efficiency, safety, product quality, food safety and customer service. The equipment will include batching, pelleting and packing equipment and other equipment unique to a plant. The operator must be knowledgeable in batching, pelleting and packing procedures and properly document the process as required by Quality and Food Safety procedures. This is a 1st shift position working 10-hour shifts Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Be able to routinely lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the shift
  • Must be able to perform the functions of the job while exposed to various weather and environmental conditions.
  • Be able to climb catwalks, stairs and ladders to check feed & ingredient bins
  • Must be able to perform basic math operations: add, subtract, multiply, divide
  • Must be able to comprehend, read, write and speak the English language
  • Must be physically active and mobile throughout the shift

Responsibilities

  • Operate multiple processes within the facility with minimal supervision, rotating between areas as needed, while collaborating with management and team members to ensure quality, food safety, and customer service standards are met.
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained and production processes are optimized to maximize output.
  • Provide back up to other positions in the plant to cover for absences, vacations or heavy workload.
  • Required to be forklift certified.
  • Attend all safety huddles and safety meetings and actively participate in discussion and help identify ways to improve safety.
  • Attend and actively participate in other staff meetings regarding Quality and Food Safety, Lean manufacturing, customer service, annual training or other topics.
  • Ensure housekeeping of your work area and other assigned portions of the plant is completed as specified in AQS-FD policies and QFS SOPs.
  • Notify the Plant Manager, Superintendent or Supervisor of any product or process not meeting company standards to reduce the chance of product claims, required re-work or other things that reduce efficiency.
