About The Position

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Summit club, set outside of Las Vegas, NV. Summit Club is seeking a Utility Porter to join the Clubhouse Residential Services Department. The Utility Porter will be responsible to maintain Maintains the overall cleanliness of all public areas, employee areas, restrooms, runs machinery and sets up and breaks down banquet events at The Summit clubhouse and common areas. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in professional cleaning or housekeeping, preferably in a high-end residential or hospitality setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of cleaning products, techniques, and best practices for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the clubhouse.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact professionally with residents, guests, and management.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • Physical stamina and strength to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting heavy objects, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to apply them in the workplace.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Safety conscious at all times in use of machinery and chemicals to avoid injury to self and others
  • Works and promotes a team environment
  • Be able to work nights, weekends.
  • Be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 100lbs
  • Be able to stand for lengths of time

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of previous utility porter experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Heavy Lifting: The Utility Porter will be required to lift and move banquet furniture, equipment, and supplies, weighing between 70 to 100 pounds. This includes setting up and breaking down banquet rooms as per event requirements.
  • Setting/resetting room in a timely manner according to BEO, Spec Sheet and/or management instruction.
  • Cleaning Banquet/Event/Public Areas from all trash from tables into the appropriate receptacles and collect and transport used linen to the designated area for pick-up.
  • Equipment Operation: Proficiently handle various machinery, such as auto scrubbers (ride-on and walk behind), burnishers, and side by sides, to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of public areas. Training will be provided to ensure safe operation.
  • Furniture Extraction: Assist with the movement and arrangement of banquet furniture for events, ensuring all setups are in line with the specifications provided by banquet coordinators.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Regularly clean and maintain all banquet areas, including floors, carpets, and surfaces, to uphold high cleanliness standards. This involves sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and spot-cleaning as needed.
  • Special Projects: Collaborate with Clubhouse Operations Management and other team members on special projects related to banquet setups, clubhouse/club tower suites projects, and other event-related tasks.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring and restocking supplies, linens, and equipment required for banquet events, ensuring an adequate inventory level at all times.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating machinery and handling heavy objects, preventing accidents or injuries in the workplace.
  • Teamwork: Work closely with the clubhouse residential services team and other departments to provide excellent service and ensure the overall success of events.
  • Customer Service: Offer friendly and helpful assistance to guests during events, responding to their needs and inquiries courteously.
  • Flexible Schedule: Be open to working evenings, weekends, and holidays, as banquet events may take place during non-traditional hours.
  • Complete high dusting of ceiling vents, wall decorations, etc.
  • Use proper techniques and equipment when moving heavy furniture to clean the area underneath.
  • Properly use and dispose of chemicals when conducting area cleaning.
  • Conduct bio-hazard clean-up
  • Operate hand trucks and flatbed carts to move equipment to assigned work areas.
