About The Position

Performs work in the construction, renovation, modification, installation, and repair of streets. Performs construction, pipe installation and cement work including laying curbs, streets, sidewalks; working on a variety of structures; and performing related work incidental to these tasks. Is required to work under adverse environmental conditions. Work is performed under the supervision of a higher classification and reviewed by direct observation, while in progress, and upon completion.

Requirements

• Utility Service Worker I: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate.
• Must be able to read, write, and follow instructions.
• Six (6) months of experience in road construction, building construction, masonry, or related experience desired.
• Valid State of Florida Driver's License required.
• Utility Service Worker II: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and two (2) years of experience in road construction.
• Experience should include storm drain construction, or asphalt or brick construction, sidewalk, curb and miscellaneous concrete construction, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or higher required.
• Must be able to be reliably contacted by phone in case of an urgent work situation.
• Progression from a Utility Service Worker I to a Utility Service Worker II will be based on related work experience.
