About The Position

The Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is seeking a hands-on, mechanically proficient Utility Services Technician to support our meter services team and related customer-facing field operations. In this role, you'll work closely with customers, plumbers, contractors, and internal crews to coordinate inspections, meter work, troubleshooting, and compliance activities. The Day to Day: This role will be full of a variety of mechanical, technical, and administrative work. The following summarizes the main duties and responsibilities of this role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must be able to obtain Colorado Water Distribution System Operator I and Wastewater Collection System Operator I certifications within one year of employment.
  • American Society of Sanitary Engineering (ASSE) 5110 - Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester certification required within one year of employment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience working with hand tools preferred.
  • Computer proficiency required, including basic Microsoft Office skills including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado driver's license, or the ability to get one within 30 days of hire.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required within the first six months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Colorado Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection certification preferred.
  • Residential and commercial plumbing experience is beneficial.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience working with hand tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various technical and mechanical activities associated with installation, repair, and maintenance of the Districts’ advanced metering infrastructure (AMI).
  • Install, test, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, read, and program residential and commercial water meters and AMI components (e.g., radio endpoints, register modules, wiring, data collectors, repeaters).
  • Inspect new and existing meter assemblies and service connections for compliance and update the CIS system to ensure accurate customer and asset data.
  • Professionally interact with customers regarding meter readings, construction projects, delinquent accounts, and other inquiries.
  • Conduct timely notifications to customers regarding water service status and perform service disconnections and reconnections in cases of non-payment.
  • Operate customer-owned curb stops of various sizes and collect GPS location.
  • Maintains records of work performed by utilizing the Customer Information System (CIS) – Infinity and the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) – Cityworks or other software programs.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to work independently and in a team environment with a strong work ethic, integrity, and positive attitude.
  • Follow district safety standards.
  • Follows all District safety and security policies and wear personal protective equipment as required by the job duties
