About The Position

As a Utility Worker on the 2nd shift, you ensure a safe work environment by adhering to all safety and ergonomic rules, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), Lockout Tagout, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements, Company Guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) applicable to your process or area.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Willingness to work 2nd shift (Monday through Friday 3pm to 1120pm) with weekends and overtime as required, based on production demands.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 6 months’ experience working in a GMP or SOP environment with cleaning/janitorial experience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely in a production environment
  • Mathematical aptitude, including skills in addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and the metric system
  • Good PC skills, including the use of e-mail and attaching documents to e-mail, and previous experience using electronic databases and online tools (e.g., Lotus Notes database, Employee Self-Services HR Direct Online tools)
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions regarding workplace documentation, such as SOPs, Operator Manuals, Work Instructions, etc.
  • Demonstrated technical ability as measured by good troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe work environment by following all safety and ergonomic rules, including any special PPE, Lockout Tagout, cGMPs, OSHA requirements, Company Guidelines, and SOPs;
  • Use basic hand tools, cleaning equipment (e.g., floor scrubbers, ultrasonic baths, bin washer) and cleaning supplies to perform cleaning duties;
  • Clean department’s machines and machine parts of all foreign material, including operating bin washers;
  • Clear floors of skids, waste containers, etc.;
  • Sweep, scrub, and wet mop floors;
  • Dust walls and clean windows, water coolers, and sinks;
  • Strip and wax floors;
  • Perform facility cleaning according to schedule and SOPs, including biometric timeclocks located in GMP areas;
  • Operate fork truck (as needed) and/or other material handling equipment to move raw and WIP materials, skids, bins, etc. within production areas and stage product bins for shipment;
  • Inspect materials retrieved to ensure compliance with cGMPs and report any non-conforming items to supervision for resolution prior to material transfer;
  • Report all preventive maintenance (PM) needed for department machines to the Production Supervisor and complete required PM work as assigned;
  • Take trash to the compactor and coordinate recycling activities and “green” initiatives;
  • Dispose of hazardous waste daily and document as required per cGMPs;
  • Fill store requisitions and order/maintain supplies for the department’s inventory;
  • Help build a team-oriented culture by motivating and supporting team members, sharing knowledge, and continuously improving the process;
  • Take ownership of training and learn to develop high-performance competencies such as technical skills, communication skills, and team-building skills;
  • Coordinate work with external contractors and vendors as directed by supervision;
  • Assist line team members in packaging and manufacturing, including hand packing, sorting, pack outs, etc.;
  • Perform cleaning tasks during plant shutdown periods;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
