About The Position

The Qualification Testing (BEV and ICE) team operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment within the Vehicle & Propulsion Controls department. The ideal candidate for this position is a strong team player willing to work in a fast-paced environment. Our mission is to isolate software bugs in electrified and ICE powertrains, ensuring the delivery of robust, high-quality software to the development fleet. The Validation Project Lead role is ideal for self-starters eager to develop a deep understanding of powertrain control subsystems and contribute to delivering world-class vehicles. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of powertrain software validation, ensuring the performance and reliability of cutting-edge vehicle technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, or System Engineering or equivalent degree
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers
  • Analytical problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Must be self-motivated and motivate the team to success
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills
  • Fundamental knowledge of ICE and Electric automotive architectures.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or System Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Experience in Agile Methodology
  • Experience in testing using test properties such as but not limited to: HIL/Emulator/Dyno/Vehicle etc.
  • Experience with test development tools such as but not limited to: Provetech TA, Control Desk, Automation Desk, Python, and Visual Basic etc.
  • Ability to use CAN/Networking tools such as but not limited to: INCA, CANAlyser, CANApe, and ATI Vision etc.
  • Experience with ALM tools such as but not limited to: DOORs, PTC Integrity, Rational Quality Manager (RQM), Rational Team Center (RTC) etc.
  • Knowledgeable in CARB OBD and Federal Diagnostic requirements
  • Working knowledge of HIL HW and SW test environment including Plant Models, Harnesses, Load boxes, FIUs, Controllers etc.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Design Verification Plans (DVPs) for propulsion system requirements testing.
  • Critically evaluate requirements, design DVPs, and conduct testing.
  • Determine the appropriate testing environment for each test case (e.g., HIL or vehicle).
  • Perform issue pre-analysis to identify potential root causes and solutions.
  • Identify critical and edge-case maneuvers to expose potential failures.
  • Conduct testing on propulsion system architectures using Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and vehicles.
