We are currently seeking a Value Stream Manager to support the production of advanced Missile Control Actuation Systems. Summary: The Value Stream Manager (VSM) is accountable for end‑to‑end performance of a major product value stream within the Salt Lake City Missile Systems site. This role ensures the value stream delivers 100% quality, 100% on-time delivery, and industry‑leading operational and financial performance across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and aftermarket support. The VSM leads cross-functional teams to plan, execute, and continuously improve all aspects of value stream performance, supporting major defense missile platforms and emerging electromechanical product lines. This leader plays a critical role in enabling SLC’s growth trajectory and supporting the site's strategic objectives. You will report directly to the General Manager – Missiles and enjoy an on-site, collaborative working environment with a 9/80 schedule on first shift. As our Value Stream Manager, you will make critical contributions by holding responsibility for the following functions: Operational Leadership Facilitate end‑to-end value stream performance including quality, delivery, cost, safety, inventory, and customer satisfaction. Escalate issues through Tier Management Process. Collaborate closely with engineering, supply chain, quality, and program management to support teams to resolve constraints and drive predictable execution. Ensure capacity, capital, and staffing plans align with growth forecasts and ramp demands. Serve as the operational counterpart to Program Managers; jointly ensure successful contract execution. Ensure compliance with AS9100, defense regulatory standards, and customer contractual requirements. People Leadership Lead through influence a cross-functional team including engineering, supply chain, assembly & test, program management and quality. Build a high-performance culture grounded in trust, accountability, respect, teamwork, and problem-solving. Mentor talent and support succession planning for critical roles. Foster a safety-first environment. Continuous Improvement & Strategy Deployment Champion lean principles, CI projects, RCCA discipline, and waste elimination across the value stream. Drive execution of the site’s Hoshin/Strategy Deployment priorities. Identify and act on strategic opportunities to improve quality, reduce unplanned cost, increase predictability, and optimize operational processes. Here are the skills and abilities that will make you successful in this role Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field. 7+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, or complex manufacturing environments. 3+ years of leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing or value‑stream‑aligned structure. Demonstrated success driving operational performance in quality, delivery, and cost. Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and structured problem-solving. The ability to simultaneously support and complete a large and varied list of tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, or complex manufacturing environments.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing or value‑stream‑aligned structure.
  • Demonstrated success driving operational performance in quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and structured problem-solving.
  • The ability to simultaneously support and complete a large and varied list of tasks.
