About the position

CLS Health is a growing healthcare system in Houston, Texas that is taking a different approach to healthcare. The Vascular Technologist is responsible for performing non-invasive vascular ultrasound examinations to evaluate blood vessels' structure, blood flow, and overall circulation. This role involves utilizing advanced ultrasound equipment, conducting various ultrasound procedures, and accurately documenting findings. The Vascular Technologist collaborates with medical professionals to provide essential diagnostic information and contribute to patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality ultrasound scans of blood vessels using specialized ultrasound equipment.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the procedure, addressing concerns, and ensuring their comfort throughout the process.
  • Position patients appropriately, apply gel to the skin, and use ultrasound transducers to capture images and Doppler waveforms of blood flow.
  • Analyze ultrasound images to identify abnormalities, blockages, or other vascular issues, and assess blood flow patterns.
  • Accurately document patient information, scan results, and related medical history in the electronic health record system.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to interpret findings and provide crucial information for diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Ensure ultrasound equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and sanitized, following infection control protocols.
  • Adhere to established protocols and quality control standards to ensure accurate and consistent test results.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in ultrasound technology, vascular imaging techniques, and follow safety guidelines to protect patients and staff during procedures.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality, uphold ethical standards, and comply with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Lifting at least 50 pounds and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Required to travel to other CLS clinics as needed.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate's or bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field.
  • Certification: Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience: Prior experience in vascular ultrasound or a related field is preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment, understanding of vascular anatomy and physiology, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with Doppler imaging, color flow imaging, and other vascular ultrasound techniques.
  • Attention to detail: A keen eye for identifying abnormalities and capturing accurate images.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move patients when necessary.
  • Required to travel to other CLS clinics as needed.
