About The Position

Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Engineer Wharton-Smith, Inc., a highly regarded General Contractor based in Central Florida, is seeking a talented Piping Designer/Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team member to work on projects in the Commercial, Education, Entertainment, and Water Treatment construction markets. Primary Responsibilities: Prepare piping 3D models using Spec Driven software AutoCAD, Revit, Microstation or BricsCADMaintaining effective communication with project teams and subcontractorsReview models, project documents for quality control Modeling 3D components in AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation or BricsCAD Production of 2D layout drawings of process piping for field useGenerate 2D piping shop drawings with Bill of Materials for fabrication Utilize models for quantity extraction Gather measurements and information in the fieldDocument management

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school.
  • Computer Aided Drafting and Design Certification or 4 years of experience in design and drafting.
  • AutoCAD preferred.
  • Must be able to multitask, work on teams, and be able to interact with clients, architects, subs, etc.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Willingness to gradually take on more responsibility.
  • Ability to assume leadership roles.
  • Must possess a positive attitude, an outstanding work ethic and be team-oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • Autodesk AEC Design Suite (AutoCAD/Revit/Navisworks/Plant3D)
  • NavisWorks
  • BricsCAD and Bentley products a plus
  • Microsoft 365 Suite
  • BlueBeam
  • Construction and/or Design experience preferred

Responsibilities
