We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented VDC Specialist to support our Civil Underground Utilities team. This role will focus on BIM modeling, coordination, and constructability review for wet utilities (sanitary sewer, storm drain, domestic water, fire water, reclaimed water), with additional experience in dry utilities (electrical, telecom, MV duct banks) considered a strong plus. The ideal candidate understands real-world constructability including gravity systems, slope requirements, invert elevations, clearances, trenching practices, and sequencing. This position plays a key role in BIM coordination, clash resolution, RFI development, and model QA/QC throughout design and construction phases.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in VDC/BIM modeling or coordination, preferably in civil underground or site utilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of: BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud / Procore Navisworks Manage Bluebeam Revu Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with clash detection workflows and BIM coordination processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and RFIs.
  • Strong understanding of gravity systems and slope calculations.
  • Knowledge of utility separation requirements and industry clearance standards.
  • Familiarity with LOD standards and BIM execution plans (BEP).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience modeling civil underground wet and dry utilities
  • Experience working on data centers, large site developments, or industrial projects.
  • Experience drafting drawing plan sets including title blocks, details, profiles, grading plans and site plans.
  • Understanding of coordinate systems, translations and experience mitigating field as-built issues.
  • Familiarity with: Autodesk Civil 3D Autodesk Revit Trimble or layout workflows
  • Field construction experience related to underground utilities.
  • Understanding of local and national utility codes (IPC, UPC, AWWA standards, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • BIM Coordination
  • Participate in weekly BIM coordination meetings.
  • Represent the Civil Underground scope during clash review sessions.
  • Perform clash detection and resolution using Navisworks Manage.
  • Track and manage clash reports and action items.
  • Coordinate with structural, MEP, architectural, and site teams to resolve conflicts.
  • QA/QC
  • Maintain Civil Underground utility models (Modeled by production team) using Revit and Navisworks uploading to the proper Hub on a daily basis.
  • Model QA/QC of wet utility systems including: Sanitary Sewer (gravity systems, slope validation) Storm Drain (pipe networks, structures, inlets) Domestic and Fire Water Other systems as needed
  • Assist with model QA/QC of dry utilities (MV, telecom, duct banks) when required.
  • Maintain model accuracy with respect to invert elevations, slopes, cover requirements, and constructability constraints by documenting issues to the production team to review and adjust as needed.
  • Perform constructability reviews focusing on: Utility clearances Trench widths and depths Sloping constraints Sequencing impacts Conflicts with existing utilities
  • Support shop drawing development
  • RFI & Documentation Support
  • Review contract documents and identify design gaps or conflicts.
  • Draft and manage RFIs related to underground utilities.
  • Review responses and implement changes into the model.
  • Assist with preparation of exhibits and coordination sketches using Bluebeam.
