About The Position

Inside the Role Vocational and Upfit vehicle applications are a fast growing segment where the customers need a variety of flexible functionalities that can be implemented quickly. In this role, you will have the unique chance to drive and lead this growing topic in a new team in the Vehicle Controls and Upfit department, with a high focus on in-house software development for highly customized and flexible functions for the vocational and upfitter applications. This role will combine a high focus on upfitter specific requirements, while leveraging the global software development platforms for an efficient implementation and reusability through the different international business units of Daimler Trucks. We Take Care of Our Team Position offers a starting salary range of $95,000 – $121,000 USD Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience. What You Drive At DTNA: With direct interactions with vocational and product strategy organizations, you define the Interface Design & Concept Development to implement complex vocational customer requests. Coordinate series and all project development requests (DR’s) that has impact in VC&U, align with the team and create the implementation plan. Interface with feature owners, system owners, SW model in VC&U and XMC component owner for the right SW implementation Ensure continuous improvement of the FSC logic capabilities, in line with the CHEC tool development team Manage XMC pinning list, interfacing with product/ segment strategy teams. Logic blocks management, regularly reviewing the logic Flex SW and decide if migrates to native logic, and ultimately coordinating between Vocational platforms M2 and Western Star Flex SW creation Interface with HiL and Vehicle validation for final feature release.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or software engineering from an accredited university/college with 2-4 years of experience.
  • Previous experience in working in a global development organization with teams and colleagues across the world
  • Experience working with Software development tools, methods and processes.
  • Excellent understanding and demonstrated experience with the North American vocational truck customer expectations, in particular Truck Equipment Manufacturers
  • Demonstrated experience working with Service, Manufacturing, Vocational and IT engineering organizations, and the associated processes.
  • Basic understanding of Daimler Truck Model-based Software development processes, tools and methods
  • Experience with vehicle data bus, CAN communications, embedded controllers is required.
  • Experience leading and mentoring others in identifying/solving the root cause of complex problems is required
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with customers, market councils and other industry relevant forums.

Nice To Haves

  • Good experience working with Functional Safety (ISO26262) and CyberSecurity
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Daimler Truck North America CHEC+/Quickfit environment
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
