Vehicle Operator / Auxiliary Services Job Summary: Transports individuals to the directed destination according to program and agency guidelines.Duties and Responsibilities: Provides transportation to individuals within the agency; assists with boarding and exiting the vehicles; traveling the most efficient routes. Performs routine maintenance and safety checks of vehicles. Promptly reports all accidents and mechanical breakdowns according to established policies and guidelines. Inspects vehicles for safe operations utilizing safety equipment efficiently, ensuring the use of safety belts. Assist with transporting individuals to hospitals, clinics, social functions, and/or other activities according to established guidelines and time frames. Communicate individuals' emerging behavioral and/or medical concerns to the supervisor within 24 hours of knowledge. Maintain a valid and appropriate license to operate the assigned vehicle. Accurately record required mileage, fuel consumption, passenger information, maintenance, and repairs in accordance with agency policy and procedures. Assist with Inventory Management (stocking, sorting, & delivering) Assist with monthly IDD Residential Deliveries (food shopping & deliveries) Assist with mail services Assist with transportation duties as assigned or needed as back-up Other duties assigned through Auxiliary Services Minimum Training & Experience:Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or transporting individuals. Must maintain a valid driver’s license.Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requires regular lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting individuals when required. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift. Preferred Qualifications:Ideal applicant must have experience working with the developmental disabilities population and operating a 10 to 15 passenger vehicle, operating ADA Equipment Vehicles with Wheelchair Lift. Pre-employment drug screening may be required.
