About The Position

The Vet Technician, Credentialed, plays a critical role in supporting veterinarians by providing high-quality medical care to animals in a clinical setting. This position involves performing a variety of technical tasks including administering medications, collecting samples, and assisting with diagnostic procedures to ensure accurate and timely treatment. The Vet Technician will also be responsible for monitoring patient health, maintaining medical records, and educating pet owners on proper animal care and post-treatment instructions. Working closely with the veterinary team, this role contributes to the overall well-being and recovery of animal patients. The ultimate goal is to deliver compassionate, efficient, and professional care that enhances the health outcomes of animals under the clinic’s care.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Veterinary Technician program.
  • Credentialed as a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) in the United States.
  • Strong understanding of animal anatomy, physiology, and common veterinary medical procedures.
  • Ability to handle animals safely and humanely in a clinical environment.
  • Basic proficiency in medical record keeping and familiarity with veterinary software systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a veterinary clinic or hospital setting.
  • Advanced certifications such as fear-free handling or anesthesia technician credentials.
  • Knowledge of specialized areas such as dentistry, emergency care, or laboratory diagnostics.
  • Excellent communication skills for client education and team collaboration.
  • CPR and first aid certification for animals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures by preparing equipment and restraining animals safely.
  • Administer prescribed medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately according to veterinary instructions.
  • Collect and process laboratory samples such as blood, urine, and tissue for diagnostic testing.
  • Monitor and record vital signs and patient progress, reporting any changes or concerns to the veterinary team promptly.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate medical records, ensuring compliance with clinic protocols and legal requirements.
  • Educate pet owners on animal health, nutrition, medication administration, and post-operative care instructions.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sterilization of medical instruments and treatment areas to maintain a safe environment.
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ordering replacements as needed to support clinic operations.
