About The Position

A Certified Canine Rehabilitation Technician (CCRT, CCRVT, or CCRP) assists veterinarians in designing and implementing physical rehabilitation plans to improve canine mobility, strength, and pain management. Responsibilities include administering therapeutic exercises, hydrotherapy, and laser therapy, monitoring patient progress, educating owners on home care, and maintaining specialized equipment.

Requirements

  • Certification: Valid certification as a CCRT (Canine Rehabilitation Therapist), CCRVT (Canine Rehabilitation Veterinary Technician), or CCRP (Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner).
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of canine anatomy, rehabilitation techniques, and orthopaedic/neurological conditions.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift 50+ pounds, bend, and work on the floor with large or restricted dogs.
  • Communication: Excellent client communication skills for providing detailed instructions on care plans.
  • Compassion and Safety: Ability to safely handle, restrain, and treat pets that may be in pain or stressed.

Responsibilities

  • Rehabilitation Treatment: Administer therapeutic modalities, including underwater treadmills, laser therapy, and, therapeutic exercises, and therapeutic massage.
  • Patient Assessment & Monitoring: Evaluate and document patient gait, range of motion, and pain levels. Monitor and record vital signs and progress during rehabilitation sessions.
  • Veterinary Assistance: Assist in orthopedic and neurological exams.
  • Client Education: Instruct pet owners on home exercise programs and post-treatment care to ensure continued recovery.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed, accurate medical records for each rehabilitation session.
  • Facility Maintenance: Ensure all rehabilitation equipment is cleaned, maintained, and safe for use.
