Requirements

  • Knowledge of common surgical and ophthalmic instruments—cleanliness, maintenance, and sterilization process
  • Time management: prepping multiple patients efficiently while maintaining safety and cleanliness
  • Compassion and patience with anxious pets
  • Calmness under pressure and adaptability in a fast-paced setting
  • Receptive to feedback and able to follow detailed instructions precisely

Responsibilities

  • Patient restraint & handling
  • Pre-anesthetic preparation: clipping and scrubbing surgical sites, ensuring cleanliness and correct anatomical margins
  • Laboratory sample handling
  • Understand sterile technique and surgical suite flow for surgery, neurology, and ophthalmology departments
  • Maintaining aseptic and sterile conditions in ORs and the sterile hallway
  • Maintain aseptic conditions in prep and holding areas
  • Proper disinfection of tables, instruments, and kennels
  • Biohazard and sharps disposal compliance
  • Strong teamwork and communication with technicians and DVMs
