About The Position

Veterinary Technician Clinical Team-Animal Research Greenfield, Indiana Daytime hours, Monday-Friday, (no late hours) Job Responsibilities Perform and document basic veterinary laboratory procedures in compliance with appropriate SOPs, GLPs, protocols and Regulatory Agency guidelines. Monitors animal health and welfare in compliance with the animal welfare act and uphold the stringent values of a Culture of Care to ensure that animals in their care are the highest priority at all times. Ensure animals are cared for in accordance to regulatory guidelines and with the highest scientific, humane, and ethical principles. Perform animal husbandry duties as needed. Report all animal care concerns and becomes involved in resolution and appropriate corrective action, when necessary. Performs various medicant administration routes, general physical exams, basic dosing, sample collection techniques and restraint procedures on multiple species as applicable. Performs aseptic surgical preparation, anesthesia, and surgical procedures on multiple species as applicable. Effectively manages time and resources. Support other departments on study related tasks (including but not limited to): Animal restraint, blood collection, study support. Learns about Animal Care and Use Activities (ACUA and IACUC). May perform methods of euthanasia on multiple species Develops positive relationships and communication skills with veterinary staff and other groups. May be involved in process improvement projects. Reviews all documentation and understands the level of a quality assurance (QA) audit. Maintains client confidentiality at all times. Ensures study activities are conducted according to protocol, standard operating procedure documents, and government regulations.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Veterinary Science, Veterinary Technology, OR BS Degree in Veterinary Nursing OR Bachelors Degree in Animal Science (or related field) with 2 years or more experince working in Clinical Veterinary Setting
  • 2 years or more of direct clinical care of animals in clinical veterinary setting
  • 1 year or more of anesthesia monitoring with small or large animals
  • 1 year or more of performing animal radiography
  • 1 year or more of documentation of animal care in electronic charting system

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Veterinary Technician
  • AAALAS certification preferred but not required
