Overview As a Vice President on the construction management team, your role will include direct management and oversight of development and construction projects for our clients throughout the country. This will also include management of external consultants, coordination with internal teams, and direct liaising with clients. As the team expands its range of services, this is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team in a leadership role.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience
  • General contracting, developer, construction management, architectural, or engineering experience preferred; client-facing experience preferred
  • Experience with the following software/technology: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat or BlueBeam Construction scheduling software (ex. Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, etc.) Construction/project management software (ex. Procore, CMiC, BuilderTrend/CoConstruct, Smartsheet, etc.) Construction technologies such as BIM, AutoCAD, SketchUp, BlueBeam Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), Lean Construction, Push-Pull Planning
  • Expertise with standard general contractor and consultant contract forms
  • Expertise with running the bidding/solicitation and vendor selection process
  • Experience navigating the entitlement and planning process
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in construction management, engineering, or architecture
  • Job Knowledge & Technical Ability : High level of understanding and successful application of general construction terminology and processes; Ability to read and analyze construction plans, specifications, schedules, and budgets; Familiar with all forms of contractor and consultant contract agreements with the ability to review and analyze quickly and effectively; Understanding of ownership level contracts and agreements (ex. Joint Venture agreements, Development Management agreements, etc.); Knowledge of LEED, Fitwel, WELL standards, and other sustainability practices; and Knowledge of lender draw and pay application processes.

  • Local and nationwide travel to assets and client sites required on an as-needed basis, approximately 1- 2 times per month depending on deal list.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage development and construction deals in coordination with the asset management team
  • Analyze construction progress while identifying potential risks, opportunities, and concerns while effectively communicating to our clients and team members
  • Prepare comprehensive cost and design review reporting for development projects
  • For direct construction management deals, act as main point of contact with client to oversee the successful execution of the entitlement, design, and construction phases
  • Provide material feedback to associates and analysts regarding market trends with respect to current and anticipated costs of material and labor
  • For debt deals, develop the deliverable schedule with the borrower and curate a deal specific construction monitoring report for execution by the team
  • Manage lender draw and pay application processes with client and asset management teams
  • Liaison with operating partners, borrowers, and leading members of the asset management team to ensure business plan execution
  • Consistently assess the value of reengineering a project versus time and scheduling constraints, saving costs without affecting the integrity of the project. Effectively weigh the cost/benefits to the overall project and customer experience
  • Oversee the successful completion of construction projects within our client’s portfolios
  • Participate in the continued growth and improvement of all reporting functions within the construction team
  • Develop institutional knowledge for the firm through case studies and contributing to an internal database of project information
  • Involved with staff selection, interviewing and training as needed
  • Oversee the day-to-day workload and performance of direct reports, providing clear direction and support as needed to achieve work objectives
  • Ensure that direct reports understand their duties and delegated tasks
  • Monitor performance and development of direct reports and provide constructive and timely feedback and coaching
  • Work with direct reports to set individual goals and deadlines and conduct regular performance reviews aligned with performance review process
  • Handle discipline of employees in accordance with company policy
