About The Position

The VP, Division Strategy & Growth is the senior leader responsible for translating enterprise strategy into division strategy and execution-ready plans that enable profitable, sustainable growth across priority geographies, clinical service lines, and sites of care. This role sits within Enterprise Strategy, reports to the SVP, Strategic Growth, Intelligence & Architecture, and is aligned and accountable to the Division President for shaping and activating the division growth agenda. The VP leads a high-performing team that delivers an insights-to-activation operating system—integrating division market and competitor intelligence, strategic planning, provider growth planning, provider outreach/liaison, portfolio and capital discipline, and required regulatory growth pathways—while partnering closely with enterprise functions to ensure consistent standards, enterprise alignment, and coordinated execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, or Bachelor’s degree in health care administration, or bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field.
  • Typically requires 15 years of experience in health care growth and business development that includes experience in developing and executing strategic plans and building relationships with physicians, the community, and businesses.
  • Includes 10 years of management experience in the management of staff, budgets, and multiple business development and strategic functions, with proven experience driving accretive financial growth and advancing organizational strategic priorities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in business development activities such as relationship building strategies, promoting products/services, and experience in meeting financial targets.
  • Skills and experience in developing and executing business plans.
  • Expert level consultative and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in finance concepts and applications that would be important to develop a business plan; Ability to partner with Finance lead(s) to develop business proformas that support growth initiatives.
  • Understanding of employed and independent physician practice models.
  • Fundamental understanding of managed care/insurance risk.
  • Knowledge of how to optimize resources invested in various business development, marketing, and public relations activities.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word) or similar products.
  • Position will require regional travel which may result in exposure to road and weather hazards.
  • Exposed to a normal office environment.
  • Operate all the equipment necessary to perform the job.

Responsibilities

  • Co-lead division strategy with the Division President and enterprise/division leaders—defining “where to play/how to win” across geographies, service lines, and sites of care, with access and capacity realities embedded in strategic choices.
  • Translate strategy into activation by developing a sequenced roadmap of initiatives with clear ownership, dependencies, milestones, and measurable outcomes—ensuring strategy becomes executable and governable.
  • Own division market & competitor intelligence and synthesize insights into a clear, decision-oriented narrative that drives the right executive discussions and tradeoffs.
  • Partner with Strategic Analytics to integrate enterprise data/analytics into a comprehensive division insight package—aligning metrics, ensuring consistency, and enabling performance visibility and decision-making.
  • Lead division provider growth planning and execution in coordination with enterprise counterparts—prioritizing clinical areas and closing provider gaps through employment, partnership structures, practice acquisition, and other alignment models.
  • Strengthen cross-continuum care connections through provider outreach and liaison strategies that improve alignment, coordination, and growth across internal and external provider relationships.
  • Own division portfolio management and capital prioritization—standardizing intake and stage gates, recommending investments, and interlocking division priorities with enterprise portfolio governance and shared enablers.
  • Ensure enterprise strategy is embedded in division initiatives by aligning programs to enterprise strategic priorities and enterprise-enabled capabilities, and tracking adoption and impact through agreed measures.
  • Lead Regulatory / Certificate of Need (CON) growth pathways where applicable—coordinating strategy, timelines, and submissions in partnership with government relations, legal/compliance, finance, facilities, and operations to enable division growth plans.
  • Serve as a strategic extension of the Division President in priority external relationships and collaborations aligned to division strategy (e.g., provider partnerships, community stakeholders, and strategic counterpart engagements).
  • Partner with enterprise-led functions (e.g., managed health, enterprise services, enterprise business development) to align division plans with payer/value-based/employer initiatives, partnerships/JVs, and inorganic growth efforts—ensuring division integration and value capture.
  • Build and lead a high-impact team—hire, develop, and performance-manage talent; establish standards, routines, and a culture of accountability that consistently delivers the Division Strategy & Growth service offerings.
