About The Position

In this role, you will be responsible for providing leadership, development, advocacy, and counseling for the clinical leaders and clinical systems for Franciscan Ministries. The Vice President of Clinical Services will provide expertise and assistance in the development of ministry standards of quality for clinical services and senior living communities. This position will participate in strategic planning, the budgeting process, and monitoring for clinical/compliance issues. The Vice President of Clinical Services will also assist with licensure and regulatory requirements and serve as liaison for system-wide programs and partnerships that impact the communities clinically, such as pharmacy, therapy, and medical supplies. This position places a strong emphasis on quality standards while achieving the business and financial objectives of the organization in partnership with the communities. The Vice President of Clinical Services also serves as a liaison to the Quality Assurance Committee of the Board of Directors and is responsible for quarterly board reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • 5+ years of senior clinical leadership experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects and deadlines concurrently
  • Knowledge and proficiency in electronic health care records; Point Click Care preferred
  • Proficient in federal and state regulatory requirements
  • Ability to manage a large department and effectively lead change
  • Extensive travel

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement clinical programs, policies, and protocol that are consistent with best practices, quality standards for excellence, and current federal and state regulations.
  • Provide guidance and direction for managing proper placement and transition through the continuum of care utilizing objective assessment processes and clear protocols while minimizing the anxiety of the resident and supporting the community in instituting necessary changes.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a “person centered” philosophy and approach within the communities that accurately reflects the Franciscan Ministries culture.
  • Monitor and evaluate innovative changes in the industry, as well as senior living trends and issues, to determine their applicability and appropriateness.
  • Spearhead, develop, and guide changes that are identified for clinical services.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration and teamwork with home office and community leadership.
  • Collaborate to develop a formulary of supplies, pharmaceuticals, therapy services, durable medical equipment, and other related items to maximize purchasing power and reduce expenditures.
  • Identify and utilize research methodologies for measuring the effectiveness of nursing care and clinical programs.
  • Define standards and best practices for providing high quality clinical care for residents at the communities.
  • Monitor the pronouncements and regulations of governmental licensing bodies to determine potential effects on the organization and provide direction on adherence to regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provide education and guidance in the implementation of continuous quality improvement programs at the community level.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Quality Assurance Committee of the Board of Directors and responsible for quarterly board reporting.
  • Provide oversight and direction regarding clinical matters ensuring that approaches instituted optimize reimbursement under Patient- Driven Payment Model (PDPM), value-based purchasing, and any other systems in use for all communities.
  • Provide leadership, education, and consultation to the clinical leaders regarding clinical quality improvement and efficient care management.
  • Collaborate with and assist the Resident Services Directors and Wellness Nurses in the development of Wellness programs for the communities.
  • Analyze and define standards for clinical staffing and provide guidance during the budget process to ensure defined clinical quality standards can be met within projected staffing patterns.
  • Collaborate with community representatives to guide the development of physician relationships that is mutually beneficial.
  • Act as an advocate for nursing and for quality care for residents within Franciscan Ministries’ decision-making process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Use and become proficient in technology prescribed by the Ministry, following IT security and compliance policies defined for your job role or responsibilities assigned to your position.
