About The Position

Center for Human Development (CHD) has a tremendous leadership opportunity for a Vice President of Connecticut Adult Mental Health Services for one of the most respected social service and behavioral health agencies. CHD is a dynamic, fiscally strong non-profit with an annual budget of 180 million dollars, nearly 2,200 staff serving 27,000 children, adults, and families each year in Massachusetts and Connecticut. The Vice President of Connecticut Adult Mental Health Services provides leadership, direction, and oversight to the Center for Human Development’s Adult Mental Health (AMH) programs located in Connecticut. They ensure the design, development, and ongoing implementation of high-quality services to individuals and families who are troubled, at risk, and/or in need of residential, outreach, and/or rehabilitative services. These programs, totaling approximately $20 million dollars, funded by the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), HUD, CDBG and other local grants. As the VP of AMH Connecticut the responsibilities include program development and expansion, supervision, and support of at least four Program Directors, and oversight of nine intensive residential group homes, funded by the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), serving individuals coming from inpatient stays with intensive mental health and substance use conditions. These homes provide longer-term residential treatment for qualified adults from across the state who have had exposure to the criminal justice system. The VP is also responsible for providing oversight of CHD’s PILOTS program, which provides supportive housing and intensive housing case management support to individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions. Additional services include Residential Support Programs, which provides intensive support to people with chronic mental illness and substance use issues who can live on their own in the community and range of case management and homelessness intervention programs to include a Hospitality Center located in Waterbury, for individuals experiencing homelessness where we provide information and programs designed to move people out of homelessness and toward independence. The VP also has responsibility for complex budget management, planning and decision making that furthers CHD’s mission, implementation of services through person centered recovery approaches, participation in corporate and programmatic strategic planning, building, and maintaining relationships with regional and area funding source representatives and trade organizations, and quality assurance.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in human services, management, or related field
  • 5–8 years of progressive leadership experience in human services
  • Proven experience in multi-level supervision and program development
  • Deep knowledge of Connecticut mental health and substance use systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in budget management, contract negotiation, and community networking
