About The Position

Civitech is a public benefit corporation dedicated to creating a fairer and more equitable democracy by building the tools and infrastructure needed to increase civic participation, empower Democratic candidates to win, and support the success of progressive causes. Since its founding in 2019, over 500 partners—a range of nonprofit organizations, national political committees, and individual campaigns—have utilized Civitech’s tools to reach tens of millions of voters to help create a more equitable and progressive democracy. The VP of Marketing leads Civitech’s marketing strategy and execution across Civitech and related brands in our portfolio, helping grow our services, products, and influence within the political ecosystem. This role is responsible for positioning Civitech’s tools and data to reach campaigns, nonprofits, advocacy organizations, and civic institutions working to increase civic participation. The VP of Marketing oversees and develops a distributed marketing team and contractor network while running programs across product marketing, demand generation, content, communications, and brand. This leader partners closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to align marketing efforts with company growth goals. This is a player-coach role for someone who can set strategy, manage and develop a high-performing team, and still jump in to build campaigns, launch initiatives, and turn ideas into measurable results across multiple brands and product lines. Civitech is a remote-first company hiring within our current footprint of 27 states (AL, AK, CA, CO, DC, DE, FL, GA, HI, IL, MA, MD, MN, NC, ND, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OH, SD, TN, TX, VA, WA, WI, WY); Civitech does have an office in Austin, TX. Requirements

  • 8–15+ years of experience in marketing roles, with experience leading marketing strategy and execution for technology, SaaS, data, or mission-driven organizations.
  • Strong product marketing experience, with the ability to translate complex technology or data products into compelling messaging and marketing campaigns.
  • Experience building and running demand generation programs across digital channels.
  • Comfortable balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience working with CRM systems and marketing automation platforms (HubSpot preferred).
  • Ability to analyze marketing performance data and use insights to improve campaigns and customer acquisition strategies.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft clear narratives around complex issues such as electorate and election data.
  • Experience managing staff and contractors.
  • Passion for strengthening democracy, expanding civic participation, and supporting organizations working to create a more equitable society.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Civitech’s marketing strategy to drive revenue growth, product adoption, and brand leadership in the civic technology ecosystem.
  • Translate company objectives into measurable marketing goals across customer acquisition, product adoption, engagement, and brand awareness.
  • Lead go-to-market strategy, positioning, and messaging for Civitech’s products, services, and data offerings.
  • Partner closely with product, engineering, sales, and leadership teams to support product launches, feature releases, and strategic initiatives.
  • Refine Civitech’s target audiences, buyer personas, and segmentation to guide messaging, campaigns, and product positioning.
  • Build and manage full-funnel marketing programs across channels including content, email, paid media, partnerships, and organic search.
  • Oversee the development of high-impact content and thought leadership that positions Civitech as a trusted authority in civic technology and voter engagement.
  • Steward Civitech’s brand identity and ensure consistent messaging across marketing channels, campaigns, and product experiences.
  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships and co-marketing opportunities that expand Civitech’s reach and adoption.
  • Establish and monitor key marketing performance metrics, analyze results, and share insights with executive leadership.
  • Lead and mentor Civitech’s marketing team while managing budgets, contractors, and cross-functional collaboration across the organization.
  • Prepare and present leadership and board-level reporting.
