About The Position

Due to the nature of this position, candidates must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or have active and extensive knowledge of the religious practices and culture of members. Under the direction of the Resiliency Center Director, The Victim Assistance Specialist is a proactive “broker” of services and support for mass violence victims/survivors and affected community members with attention of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, who bridges gaps between clients and needed services through partnerships with system- and community-based service providers. The Victim Assistance Specialist serves as a proactive connector of services and support for mass violence victims, survivors, and affected community members, with attention to the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑Day Saints, by bridging gaps between clients and needed resources through partnerships with system- and community‑based providers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, non-profit or organizational management, public relations, communications, marketing, legal, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 1 year of work experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience related to the duties of the position.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including periodic weekends, holidays, or irregular hours to meet the needs of the Resiliency Center.
  • Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License, current automobile insurance, and the use of personal vehicle during work hours. Employee must maintain valid licensure to retain employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge and previous work history providing support to trauma impacted individuals and/or working in victim assistance support roles.
  • Experience working within faith based institutions or settings.
